Power kites can be used in many ways, for kite buggying, kite-surfing, kite-ski-ing (on snow, ice or water) or simply being dragged along a beach on your feet. Kite jumping (only on sand please!) is also very popular but great care must be taken to avoid breaking bones. The current unofficial record is 87m (290ft) along a beach. Fliers should NEVER tie themselves down to a fixed object when flying large kites. An alternative way to get into power-kiting is to "stack" smaller kites together. The most popular combination is 3 REDBACKS. The main advantage of this method is that you still have a choice of flying any number of kites depending on weather conditions. Remember, you will need at least 300lb Spectra fly lines and may need a stronger bridle on the front kite which we can arrange for a small fee. |
