BUGGIES!

The now famous kite buggy was invented by the New Zealand engineer Peter Lynn and is the most widely used brand in the world today (over 10,000 have been sold!). Built from lightweight stainless steel it weighs in at just 10.5kg. and dismantles quickly for transporting. There are several versions available with the "Competition" version being the most popular. Priced at about $650.

Travelling upwind is easy and speeds over 100 km/hr have been recorded. Australia is in a unique position with its abundance of salt lakes which make for the highest speeds. There are many different kite outfits suitable for buggying. One of the most popular is a 3-stack of REDBACKS which allows the kite flier to build up gradually without a large outlay of cash at one time.
